El Ingenio Shopping Centre,owned by Salsa Patrimonio and managed by MVGM, has achieved BREEAM Certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology), rated “Very Good”. This is the most technically advanced and world-leading method of sustainability assessment and certification in construction,highlighting the impact of more sustainable construction on savings, as well as the health and environmental benefits for everyone linked to the life of a building, whilst also conveying the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to society.
This certification is aligned with the ESG Plan developed by El Ingenio, which strives to continue adding good practices to ensure the facilities of the Centre are as sustainable and respectful of the environment, health and society as possible.
In 2023, El Ingenio is rolling out a new photovoltaic solar power installation, adding to the system implemented previously in 2022, through which around 28% of the annual energy consumed by the Centre is currently provided by its solar panels, avoiding the emission of approximately 200 tonnes of CO2 per year. It will also continue to carry out actions aligned with the SDGs, such as off-setting its carbon footprint once it has been registered.
