Nestled within one of the most monumental areas of Malaga is Edificio Victoria 38. Located on Calle Victoria, this residential building is a true architectural gem from 1927. Designed following the neo Mudejar style, it is an eclectic jewel that combines Renaissance, Baroque and neo Mudejar elements across its different floors.
The front of the building is divided into two vertical sections. The ground floor has a grandiose entrance with a semi-circular arch flanked by Tuscan columns with cushion capitals. Above this is a balcony, beautifully decorated with ceramic, which spans two openings with an arch lintel. On both sides, aligned with the window recesses on the ground floor, are two other balconies of the same type.
The first floor has two turrets and balconies with diminished arches separated by imposts. On the second floor, between the two sides, a terrace with balcony and wrought ironwork, with archways supported by columns. On the third floor, a stone balcony, with columns supporting the beam under the eaves.
The interior of the building is set around a beautiful rectangular courtyard, which is accessed through a small vestibule with an interior entrance way flanked by two stone columns.
Although initially attributed to Fernando Guerrero Strachan, recent research has revealed that the project was developed by architect José Ortega Marin in 1924, at the request of owner Germán López. The original design of the building front had strong Arabic influences. Building work was completed in 1928, and the building was subsequently acquired by the contractor Antonio Baena.
The incorrect attribution to Guerrero Strachan is due to the current façade, which exhibits neo Mudejar and neo Plateresque elements reminiscent of other works by this renowned architect. This combination of architectural styles creates a unique and captivating aesthetic that impresses anyone who looks upon it.
Its unique blend of history, architecture and strategic location attracts an international community, creating a multicultural and enriching environment.
With a total of 1,852 m² distributed over five floors, the properties within Edificio Victoria 38 stand out for their bright, spacious rooms. Although the building does not have an elevator, all the properties are fully furnished and equipped with the basic household appliances and provide amenities that will make its residents feel at home.
This place is ideal for short stays, for people visiting the city for business or professional reasons, or to learn languages. Its superb location makes it very attractive to international visitors as it is located in the historic heart of the city, surrounded by restaurants, leisure and entertainment, as well as cultural attractions.
Edificio Victoria 38 is much more than just a place to stay. It’s a truly special building for its architecture, its fascinating design and its exceptional location, offering residents a truly unforgettable experience.
